Chief Clinical Officer

Matthew Stilley

As Chief Clinical Officer at Enlightened Recovery, Matthew diligently collaborates with clinical supervisors across all locations to consistently deliver, assess, and enhance every aspect of the client experience.

Matthew’s profound passion for the recovery community was ignited after seeking help for his own personal struggles during his youth. He began his career in 2009, focusing on early intervention strategies for adolescents and mastering the 12 core functions of substance abuse. During this period, Matthew earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (2009) and a Master’s Degree in Social Work (2011) from Rutgers University.

In his post-graduate career, Matthew transitioned to working with adult populations, addressing co-occurring clients and emphasizing the identification of underlying issues, such as unresolved trauma, that contribute to addiction. Since 2015, he has held various managerial positions in addiction treatment and served as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers School of Social Work, teaching courses within the Addiction Counselor Training Program.

As a hands-on executive, Matthew collaborates closely with all departments to ensure comprehensive teamwork, allowing Enlightened Recovery to provide the best possible service to clients and their families.

Matthew holds licensure as a Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, as well as certification as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in New Jersey. He is also nationally recognized as a Clinical Supervisor and Trauma Professional.
